Results of the work are reduced by social barriers

  • Passive attitude of men: In the African society we can notice that women in general have more positive attitude to the work and try to improve living conditions of their family and children. Men often drink and don’t do anything. We can also see the men who are different (= try to improve the situation) in the community team. Nevertheless women are more represented. The community tries to motivate men to the work. That’s why community concentrates on teenagers, because in that case it is still possible to teach them the positive attitude. In the case of adults the motivation usually doesn’t work.
  • Non-effective spending of time: In the African society people don’t perceive the time as Europeans or Americans do (Czech saying: “time is money”). Africans don’t think about losing time. That’s why the activities of community are stunted by slow offices. There is also the problem of late arrivals of participants to the community programs (sometimes program has to start 2 hours later than it should have).
  • Lack of finances: Community suffers of lack of state support and its bureaucratiscm.
  • Low-class or missing infrastructure: The community effort to unit and contact local inhabitants is blocked by expensive or missing transport, bad roads. Activities are restrained by lack of water, electricity and internet.
